X-Strike Studios is an independent film company and improv troupe based out of Buffalo. X-Strike Studios will be both playing in a video game-themed improv comedy show, and presenting their latest feature, "Resident Horror."

Learn about immersive role playing from 4 members of the staff of Seventh Kingdom IGE(Interactive Gaming Environment), an interactive game based in South Jersey. Live action role playing (LARP) offers a social, physically active role playing platform. It presents an immersive world for players to explore in a reactive story and environments.
A primer for curious individuals on steampunk as a genre, aesthetic and Sensibility, presented by crew at Steam Gear Lab. The aim is to introduce steampunk in broad strokes and get people excited!

Imperial stormtroopers to set up military outpost at GameX! Garrison Carida® will be setting up a temporary base at GameX 2009, portraying the nefarious characters (or Dark Side characters) of the Star Wars films. Civilians are invited to introduce themselves to the troops for pictures and non-combat activities.

More than 70 robots will be on display at GameX, as four independent robotics groups join forces at GameX to demo their inventions and technology. Hands-on demonstrations will enable guests to experience the fun of robotics!

GameX Animation Festival |

GameX Animation Festival will screen in the GameX Theater on Friday, October 23 and Saturday, October 24, and is included in price of admission. Featured films include "La Main des Maîtres,” an instant steampunk classic directed at Georges Méliès School in France, plus a sneak peek screening of "War of the Worlds: Goliath", a 90-minute animated steampunk epic sequel to the classic novel by H.G. Wells, due out in 2010.

The GameX Steampunk Art Competition is a one-of-a-kind art contest designed for artists of all levels, featuring an all-star line-up of industry judges in film, animation, games and comics from Universal Pictures, DreamWorks Animation, Universal Studios, 2K Boston, Ubisoft and Turbine. Winning entries will be on display in the Artist Market area at GameX. Four finalists will receive $10,000-worth of art tools, software and technology.

As part of your GameX one-day or 3-day pass, high school and college students can attend the GameX Career Forum, a one-day conference for young people and industry newcomers to learn the ropes from industry experts and educators. Representatives from leading game companies, game production schools and game education programs are conducting hands-on workshops, lectures and roundtables with GameX attendees interested in learning more about game industry careers.

Welcome to the 2nd Annual Philly Game Jam – Philadelphia’s premier game building event. The Philly Game Jam is a 48-hour game building marathon where professionals, students and amateurs alike can compete to build new game concepts based on a theme announced at the start of the contest. Philly Game Jam begins at 12 pm on Friday, October 23 and end at 12 pm on Sunday, October 25. GameX attendees can observe and ask questions of game developers.
The event returns in 2009, this time as part of GameX Industry Summit, October 24-25. Hosted by IGDA Philadelphia, Philly Game Jam invites game developers from all over the Northeast to bring together teams of 3 – 10 developers for 48 hours of game building excitement.
